Hunters’ Hollow Growing with Oxford

027-1Hunters’ Hollow to begin construction on new and expansive location on Highway 6

Locals who love the outdoors already have access to “Your Number 1 Huntin’ Store” in Hunters’ Hollow. Its 13,000 square feet of retail space has been dedicated to offering everything from apparel to camping equipment to duck and deer hunting gear and much more since 1988.

025-1A visit to the store just off West Jackson can make you wonder what else a fisherman, hunter or camper could want in a hunting and outdoor establishment. These days, it’s a question not lost on Hunters’ Hollow Owner Donny Guest.

“We are in the beginning stages of a major expansion of Hunters’ Hollow,” said Guest. Already, he’s purchased four acres of property located 2.7 miles from the red light on West Jackson out Highway 6, with construction on a new store that will be closer to 30,000 square feet in size set to begin this fall.

The future location will replace the existing one off West Jackson and make shopping at Hunters’ Hollow an even better experience for customers, Guest said.

“We’ll have room for more merchandise, and the new store will have greatly expanded parking for those who have campers or trailers on their vehicles. The location also has an access road off of Highway 6, where you can turn in and have easy in and out.”

Another added feature at the new Hunters’ Hollow will be the ten-lane, indoor pistol and rifle range, which will allow hunters to practice their marksmanship and hone their hunting skills year-round.

Although the present location and his very first 4,500-square-foot store in Oxford served him and his customers well for 25 years, Guest says the new and much larger store will align his retail operation with the current growth patterns of Oxford and Lafayette County.

“A lot of new businesses are going up out Highway 6, and I look for the city to grow in that direction. We need to be on the highway. We have grown enough so that my business could be anywhere and people would still come to us.” ––Michael Harrelson, editor, HottyToddy.com
