Thornberry & Team USA Practice With President Bush At Walker Cup

Published

Ole Miss junior Braden Thornberry will compete on Team USA this weekend in the 46th Walker Cup at the Los Angles Country Club.
On Thursday, former President George W. Bush joined the members of Team USA in a practice round. Thornberry got to ask him for a read at the (0:15) mark of the video. Later in the video clip, the former president would then give Thornberry the nickname “Olive Branch” after his hometown.

Thornberry is the first representative in the history of Ole Miss Golf to compete in the Walker Cup. In June, Thornberry won the 2017 NCAA Division I individual national championship.
Team USA is made up of 10 golfers who were chosen by the USA’s International Team Selection Committee to compete against members representing Great Britain and Ireland. Thornberry’s teammates for the weekend will include: Cameron Champ of Texas A&M, Doug Ghim of Texas, Stewart Hagestad of USC, Maverick McNealy of Standford, Collin Morikawa of California, Doc Redman of Clemson, Scottie Scheffler of Texas, Norman Xiong of Oregon and Will Zalatoris of Wake Forest.
