Rebels Preparing For 2017 Opener As Camp Continues
As September 2 draws near, the Ole Miss Rebels are preparing for the 2017 season opener against South Alabama.
RB Coach Derrick Nix
In recent years, Ole Miss has been known for their aerial attack, but this season, running back coach Derrick Nix wants his backs to have a more physical mindset to go along with Phil Longo’s system.
“Our guys are competing at a high level right now,” Nix said. “They are all pushing each other. I think it all started back in the spring, carried over into the summer time and into training camp. They are all friendly, but they are pushing each other as well to their very best.”
Senior running back Jordan Wilkins
“Our coach pushes us and demands a lot from us and pushes us to be the best we can be,” Wilkins said. In this league you have to be a physical running back. I think that is what he has be working on trying to get out of us a whole and we are definitely coming together.”
Junior quarterback Jordan Ta’amu
“I see explosive plays, explosive runs, we have great receivers that can make plays down the field, Ta’amu said. “With this offense and coach Longo’s offense I feel like we can be very explosive.”
