Visit Oxford will enter the second year of the Oxford Partnerships funding program on Aug. 1, 2017. This program began last year and replaced the former grants program. The Mission of Visit Oxford is to increase tourism to Oxford for the economic benefit of the community.
“Oxford Partnerships is another tool of the Tourism Council to promote Oxford. We replaced our previous grants program last year with Oxford Partnerships, and we have funded about a dozen events through this fiscal year,” said Mary Allyn Hedges, Director of Visit Oxford.
Funds given through Oxford Partnerships are for the purpose of promoting Oxford, MS
and the University of Mississippi events that target out of town visitors. Events held Oct. 1,
2017 – Sept. 30, 2018 are eligible for funding. Oxford Partnerships funds can be used for
advertising, printing, meals, administrative costs, etc.
“Having a program that allows all applicants to apply funds in the most efficient way has been helpful over the past year. Visit Oxford hopes to fund as many events in the coming year through Oxford Partnerships,” said Kinney Ferris, Deputy Director of Visit Oxford.
Visit Oxford will accept Oxford Partnerships applications throughout the year, and the
program length is based on how quickly these funds are exhausted. Visit Oxford has dedicated $27,000 for Oxford Partnerships. Preference will be given to events that drive hotel room nights in Oxford hotels from Sunday-Thursday nights and during the months of December-February and June-August.
Oxford Partnerships applications can be found under the “services” tab at the bottom of
the Visit Oxford homepage: https://visitoxfordms.com/services/. Visit Oxford will begin taking applications on August 1, 2017. Funding will be available beginning Oct. 1, 2017.
