Mayor-Elect Tannehill To Be Inaugurated Thursday Morning
Mayor-Elect Robyn Tannehill announced plans for the Inauguration Ceremony of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen to be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 on the front steps of City Hall on the Courthouse Square.
“The inauguration will be a reflection of the people of Oxford and celebrate the partnerships that make our City one of the best in the nation,” said Mayor-Elect Tannehill.
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with musical entertainment by the Reformed Ramblers. The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. Jim Dees of Thacker Mountain Radio will open the program as the Master of Ceremonies, and the Honorable Judge Andrew Howorth and The Honorable Judge Patricia Wise will administer the Oath of Office to Mayor Robyn Tannehill and to the Board of Aldermen.
Strengthening relationships will be a goal of the administration; Chancellor Jeff Vitter and Board of Supervisors’ President Jeff Busby, and outgoing Mayor Pat Patterson, will each take part in the ceremony.
Musical selections during the Inauguration Ceremony will be performed by the Youth and Children’s Choir from Oxford First United Methodist Church under the direction of Minister of Music Laura Gillom.
Following the Inauguration Ceremony, the public is invited to enjoy refreshments inside City Hall.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in the Courtroom in City Hall.
