Thai Zaap Kitchen’s Drunken Noodle

Zaap in Thailand means spicy and tasty, but in Oxford, Thai Zaap Kitchen translates as  spicy and tasty with a home-cooked flavor.
Rasita Palawan left Thailand 12 years ago, met her husband in Australia and they moved to Oxford a year and a half ago from Springfield, Missouri.
Upon moving to Oxford, Palawan and her husband wanted to bring part of their culture to town and opened Thai Zaap Kitchen.
“In Thailand, our culture is hot food but here, most people like the food sort of medium,” Palawan said, explaining that Thai chili is what puts the heat in Thai food. “More Thai Chili the hotter,” Palawan said.

Thai Zaap Kitchen is located on the south side of Highway 30 and North Lamar intersection and serves a full menu of Thai delights ranging from chicken satay and crispy wontons to rice and noodle dishes.
Open for lunch from 11 to 3 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 8 p.m., the Thai Zaap Kitchen Restaurant menu is moderately priced with dishes ranging from sesame fried rice at $7.99 to Nua Nom Tok at $9.95.
Noodle and rice plates include pineapple, Thai and basil fried rice, drunken Noodles, and stir fried Ramen. Rice plates include panang, red, green and Indian Curry as well as Thai Jasmine Rice Soup, stir fried shrimp and teriyaki.
Beverages include the usual American sodas but special on the menu is Thai Iced Tea. Top off an evening of hot or warm Thai food, with a cool Mango Smoothie.
