One Deputy Injured, One Suspect Dead In Yalobusha County Shooting
Officers in Yalobusha County were investigating a stolen four-wheeler around 3 a.m Friday morning when the suspects fled into the woods. Officers came back in contact with the suspects and exchanged gunfire after one suspect opened fire, according to District Attorney John Champion. A deputy was injured and was later released from an area hospital.
One suspect was shot and killed, another is being treated at the hospital, and a third suspect is in custody, according to Champion.
The shooting took place on County Road 100 just outside of the Water Valley city limits.
“The officers did an excellent job protecting the public from dangerous felons who had guns.” Champion said.
Names of the injured officer and the suspects are not being released at this time, and HottyToddy.com will update this story as more information becomes available.
