Incumbents Retain Seats On Board Of Aldermen After Tuesday's Election
A lackluster turnout in the Democratic primary election led to the incumbent candidates retaining their seats on the Oxford Board of Aldermen. Rick Addy defeated challenger Patrick Herbert by a margin of 300-37.
Of the 2,496 residents of Ward 1, the 337 votes represent just over 13 percent of participants.
In Ward 5 just 2 percent of the area’s residents turned out to vote. Preston Taylor retained his seat by edging out challenger Theressa Hilliard 45-25.
Neither Ward has a Republican running for the seat and therefore will not be on the ballot for the general election to be held on June 6.
