Ranking The Worst Times To Take A Final: Ole Miss Finals Schedule
Finals week is never fun, and there’s no “good” time to take a final, but there are certain times in the exam schedule that make taking a final that much worse. Below are the top 3 worst times to take a final, so check it out and let us know what your dreaded time slot may be!
- Friday, May 12 – 4 p.m.
I can’t imagine anyone having a different choice for the top spot on this list. I doubt that the teachers want to be there any more than the students do in this case. This is literally the last hour of the school year, and a select few have to endure the long wait to get their semester over with. I had the unfortunate pleasure of taking an Italian 202 final on the Friday of my final semester. Thursday night rolled around and all of my friends were already finished with their finals, so to the Square they went. I got to stay home and stare at the same vocabulary and verb conjugation flash cards that I felt were impossible to memorize. Even when I woke up I had to keep studying and staring at the clock trying to will it toward 4 o’clock so I could take my test and be done with it. Don’t worry though (I’m sure you were), but I passed.
2. Monday, May 8 – 8 a.m.
Some people may subscribe to the “let’s get it over with” belief. I am not one of those people. Like many, I’m at my least productive in the morning, and on Mondays, so this is a disastrous combination. You put off studying to have one more fun weekend with your friends or sleep all weekend in hopes that you can avoid the sinking feeling of studying. Nevertheless, the sun rises on Monday, and it’s time to head to campus and face your fear. Thankfully, the one time I did endure this time slot the class was somewhat meaningless and while I certainly didn’t pass with flying colors, I didn’t fail it. Ah, freshman year, when I thought 101 classes were difficult…what a time.
3. Monday, May 8 – 4 p.m.
We stay on day 1 of finals week for the final selection. It’s the beginning of the week and whether you’ve studied for this one or not it’s part of the past. The bad thing about this time slot is the effect it will have on you moving forward. Some finals can take hours to complete, and you’ve still got a full week of finals ahead. The last thing you’re going to want to do right when you get done with one grueling exam is to go study for more of them. In my case, I dealt with this scenario during my sophomore year and was saved by the fact that my final the following day was hardly one to stress over. If you have a difficult one to prepare for after taking one late on a Monday, I wish you the best of luck.
