Video: Sigma Nu Prepares To Take On Kappa Sigma In 2017 Charity Bowl
Sigma Nu Fraternity is hosting its 28th annual Charity Bowl Wednesday, April 12, at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium to honor Chris Madison.
As Sigma Nu’s philanthropy event, Charity Bowl is a full-pad football game where Sigma Nu plays against another fraternity, this year Kappa Sigma.
The event began in 1990 after the 1989 football season in which Chucky Mullins, a defensive back for the Ole Miss Rebels, was paralyzed in the homecoming football game against Vanderbilt. To honor Chucky, each year the majority of the proceeds of the event go toward the Charity Bowl Recipient, who is selected based on his or her paralysis. Charity Bowl also supports Blaire E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi, as well as other non-profit organizations in the Oxford/Lafayette community.
The game starts at 7 p.m. and is preceeded by a cheerleading competiton between the sororities at Ole Miss that begins at 6 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m.
