Craft beer from Mississippi breweries, food from local restaurants, live music, community events at partner sites, giveaways and a chicken wing eating contest? That’s right…. and all in just two days.

It’s not just a fantasy. It’s the 9th Annual Miss-I-Sippin’ craft beer festival in Oxford. Miss-I-Sippin’ will kick off on Friday, March 24, with more events, beer and food than ever before.

Hosted by the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council (YAC), Miss-I-Sippin’ was created in 2008 to highlight Mississippi breweries and craft beers. Over the past nine years, this event has grown into a full-scale festival and includes multiple sites, partners, chefs and musicians.
The weekend activities will begin on Friday night with a Brewer’s Dinner. The dinner will offer guests an opportunity to meet with local brewers while also enjoying a decadent, multi-course meal prepared by Sinfully Southern owner and chef Dwayne Ingraham. The meal will include crawfish hand pies with a micro greens salad, chicken and sausage gumbo, smothered pork loin, potatoes au gratin, sauteed zucchini and squash, and will finish with a banana pudding inspired dish of diced bananas, vanilla custard, dulce de leche, coffee macaroons and vanilla wafer crusts.

Each brewery admission ticket includes a six sample beer flights, live music and a tour of the brewery. Guests are allowed to bring in food from outside restaurants and will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food trucks that will be available outside the brewery. For more information on the Tasting and Tunes event click here.
The second day of the festival will begin at noon with community events at four locations around Oxford. Gus’ Fried Chicken, The Growler, High Point Coffee, and Jackson Beer Company will all offer activities and specials until 3 p.m. The events at these locations are open to the public and do not require tickets.
After the activities at the partner locations end, the Tasting Pavilion will open for Miss-I-Sippin’ guests. The Tasting Pavilion will be held at the Old Armory Pavilion on University Ave. from 3  to 8 p.m. The afternoon and evening at the Tasting Pavilion will include free beer, live music, a chicken wing eating contest, family friendly games and more.

Tickets to the event may be purchased online here. There is an additional $10 fee for the chicken wing eating contest, and only 10 spots are available in the contest.
