That Elvis quote is one whose exposure could have been amongst the largest ever pronounced, delivered as he left CBS stage 50 in NTC, after making his second performance at the Ed Sullivan and in front of some 55 million television viewers on October 28, 1956. And he never was more right, given what had transpired at 5 pm in the same building, when he was inoculated with the third version of the Jonas Salk anti polio vaccine, which he did in front of the world’s press, a public health advocacy of his which proved to be a prime mover in the exponential increase in the imminization level of all those then living in the US, from 0.6 to 80% in the next 6 month period. In fact, by April of 1957, the Salk Institute declared that polio was all but erradicated from US soil. Elvis was in fact, quite blessed…
