Rebels Can't Afford A Loss At The Hands Of The Razorbacks On The Road

The Ole Miss Rebels took care of the LSU Tigers on Valentine’s Day, thanks to a big night from sophomore Terrence Davis. But, they face a much more quality opponent today. The Rebels travel to Fayetteville to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks. Every game is a must-win from here on out with just five games remaining in the regular season. One more loss may burst the Rebels’ postseason bubble.

The LSU game solidified one thing, the Rebel offense goes through Terrence Davis. Davis scored a career-high 33 points as the Rebels scored their season high, 96 points. While the Tigers have lost their last 12 games, the victory was no gimme for Ole Miss. The Rebels trailed for the majority of the second half but grabbed a 70-69 lead with 6:40 remaining. Executing well down the stretch, the Rebels built a substantial lead and walked off the floor with a 20-point victory. Three other Rebels scored in double figures to aid Davis in the Rebel comeback, including 15 points each from Deandre Burnett and Sebastian Saiz.
A key to the Rebels’ success against LSU was the ability to find the open man and hit quality shots. Ole Miss was able to rack up 21 assists throughout the game on their way to shooting 54 percent from the floor. Efficient shooting combined with just 11 turnovers, that is a winning brand of basketball that the Rebels must emulate for the remainder of the season. 
With a win today the Rebels can complete their first three-game winning streak since the beginning of conference play. To do so, they must go through the Razorbacks, who knocked off #21 South Carolina in their last matchup. Arkansas currently sits at 4th in the SEC with an 8-5 conference record. Dusty Hannahs leads the way in scoring for Arkansas with 14.9 PPG, but three other Razorbacks average double figures on the year, making it difficult for the Rebel defenders to key on one player. 
As the season winds down, they won’t be looking for any letdowns as seeding for the SEC tournament begins to take shape, so the Rebels will have their work cut out for them from start to finish. 
Good news for the Rebels as they have won five of their last six trips to Fayetteville.
