Thacker Mountain Radio Rocks The Lyric To Kick Off Oxford Film Festival

Published

on

Last night, Thacker Mountain Radio set the stage for the Oxford Film Festival. Thacker pulled out all the stops, from the red carpet to amazing authors and musicians of all ages. It was a night packed with entertainment, and the crowd couldn’t help but feel the presence of the bands that were about to explode.
The Yalobushwhackers

The Yalobushwhackers brought the enthusiasm to keep the crowd pumped up. They opened the night with Thacker’s theme song, “Can You Feel It,” as usual.
Teneia

Teneia took the stage next, opening up with “What’s On Your Mind.” Teneia, a husband and wife duo, is originally from Jackson, Mississippi. The couple sold everything they owned to travel the world and perform their music.
Tom Franklin

Tom Franklin is a world-renowned writer from Mississippi. Franklin is the “New York Times” bestselling author of “Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter,” which won the “Los Angeles Times” Book Prize and the Crime Writers’ Association’s Gold Dagger Award. His previous works include “Poachers,” “Hell at the Breech” and “Smonk.” Franklin recited four pages of recent work. So recent, in fact, the new novel has yet to be named. He recited four pages from a chapter he titled “Cow Man.”
Rorey Carroll

Rorey Carroll, originally from Chicago, is known for her folk sound. She had the crowd jumping with her final song “Love is a Tramp.”
Sonny Burgess

The Sonny Burgess band has been together since 1955. One year after starting their band, they had a hit record called, “We Wanna Nuggie.” Also known for another hit called “Red Headed Women,” the Sonny Burgess band can still rock the stage after 62 years of performing.
