Ole Miss Women's Basketball To Take On Bayou Bengals Tonight
The Ole Miss Women’s Basketball squad steps back onto the hardwood tonight to host LSU.
Ole Miss (15-8, 4-6 SEC) enters the game after ending a 13-game SEC road skid by defeating Florida by the score of 84 – 75. The Rebels were led in scoring by Madinah Muhammed with 22 points while freshman Shelby Gibson added 16 points.
Gibson earned her second SEC Freshman of the Week honor after scoring 16 points and grabbing six rebounds in her second career start at Florida.
LSU enters Thursday’s game with a 16-7, 5-5 SEC record after defeating Alabama 48-41 in Baton Rouge on Sunday. Raigyne Moncrief and Chloe Jackson are leading the Tiger offense with 15.3 and 13.3 points per game, respectively. Moncrief also leads the rebounding efforts with 5.8 rebounds per game. On the season, the Tigers are averaging 64.2 points per game and grabbing 32.9 rebounds per game.
Tonight’s matchup will be the 55th meeting between the teams, with the Tigers owning a 32-22 advantage. The teams have split the last two meetings, but the Tigers have won seven of the last eight. Ole Miss is 13-12 in games played in Oxford and last defeated the Tigers in 2015 by a score of 58-57 in Oxford. This will be LSU’s first trip to The Pavilion.
