A cat-and-mouse matchup between the Ole Miss Rebels and the Tennessee Volunteer men’s basketball teams concluded in a Vols victory outscoring the Rebels 75-66.

Ole Miss 14-9 (5-5 SEC) held the lead at halftime 34-39 behind Rebel center Sebastian Saiz’s 7 points and 5 rebounds. However, a quality and well-executed defensive effort uplifted the Vols 13-10 (5-5) to beat the Rebels.
The University of Tennessee came up big on a 15-2 run late in the third quarter led by senior Robert Hubbs III. He gave the Vols the lead with a lay-up with under three minutes left in the second half 66-64. The Rebels could not answer on the following play.
Hubbs scored 18 points and recorded 4 assists in the game. Freshman Grant Williams posted 18 points, 6 rebounds and four blocked shots along with fellow freshman Jordan Bowden’s 12 points for the Volunteers.
Sophomore guard Terence Davis III led the Ole Miss Rebels with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist. Along with the big man, Sebastian Siaz’s 13 points, and 15 rebounds. Saiz recorded his 17th double-double of the season leading the SEC. Freshman guard Breein Tyree made his mark Wednesday night by dropping 12 points for the Rebels.
The Rebels’ junior guard Cullen Neal struggled from the field only recording three points from a bucket beyond the arc in 18 minutes of playing time.
Ole Miss Head Coach Andy Kennedy said, “Tennessee made all the effort winning plays down the stretch.”
Hopefully, Ole Miss can finish strong in the second half during their next basketball game this Saturday against Auburn at 5 p.m. CT in Oxford on SEC Network.
