The Ole Miss softball team will close out the 2013 season with a doubleheader against Alcorn State of the Southwestern Athletic Conference on Wednesday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. CT at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.

“We want to go out hard Wednesday and finish the season on a strong note against Alcorn State,” Ole Miss head coach Windy Thees said. “I’m really looking forward to seeing our girls battle in front of our fans.”

Ole Miss (23-31) celebrated its three seniors, Brittany Broome, Erinn Jayjohn and Kelly Nolan, prior to Sunday’s series finale against No. 15 Texas A&M. The Rebels defeated the Aggies Friday, their second victory over a top-15 ranked opponent this season.

It will be Dollar Wednesday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex, as hotdogs and popcorn will be sold for $1 at the concession stand located behind the first base dugout.

Freshman Madi Osias has the highest batting average for the Rebels at .360. Despite having just 75 at bats, Osias has hit six home runs – just one shy of the team lead. Her 22 RBI are the fourth most on the team.

Sophomore third baseman Allison Brown is batting .346 this season with a team-high 16 doubles, the most in Ole Miss single season history. Brown’s 40 RBI are the third most in single season history, and her 54 hits this season are the eighth most in program history.

Junior outfielder RT Cantillo leads Ole Miss with a team-high seven home runs, and Broome has stolen a team-high 32 bases, a single season record. Broome’s 74 career stolen bases are also the most in Ole Miss history.

Junior pitcher Carly Hummel has thrown 13 complete games this season, and leads the Rebels with 110 strikeouts in 144 innings of work.

The Rebels’ fielding has been some of the best in the country all season. In 54 games, Ole Miss has committed just 27 errors and has posted a fielding percentage of .980, the best in the Southeastern Conference and the second best in the country.

Ole Miss is 9-2 all-time against Alcorn State, and has won nine of the two teams’ last 10 meetings. The Rebels and Lady Braves last faced off in 2011 in a doubleheader on March 1 in which the two teams split the two games.

The Lady Braves (12-35) have been at the plate led by sophomore Alexandra Harris, who is batting a team-high .346 with seven doubles, four triples and a home run. Senior Deanna Ranciliio is Alcorn State’s top pitcher, with 49 strikeouts in 123.2 innings of work.
