The Ole Miss women’s basketball team will close out the non-conference slate of games this evening as they host Mississippi Valley State. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at The Pavilion at Ole Miss.
Ole Miss enters the game 10-2 on the season after defeating Austin Peay 66-38 on Dec. 20. Chrishae Rowe led the offense with 20 points off the bench while Shandricka Sessom tallied a game-best eight rebounds. The Rebels have won their last four games heading into tonight’s final non-conference game.
Coach Matt Insell’s squad are off to a 9-0 mark at home, which is the best start since Ole Miss went 11-0 at home to open the 2006-07 season. The Rebels are one of five SEC teams that are undefeated at home.
Mississippi Valley enters Wednesday’s game with a 3-7 record after falling to Murray State 80-62 on Dec. 21. The Devilletes have lost their last two games and four of their last five games. Christina Reed leads the offense with 17.5 points per game, while Ashley Beals is averaging 12.3 points per game. Beals is also Mississippi Valley State’s top rebounder with 7.5 rebounds per game. As a team, Mississippi Valley is averaging 60.1 points per game and 35.5 rebounds per game.
This will be the 17th meeting between Ole Miss and Mississippi Valley State, with Ole Miss leading the series 14-2. The Rebels have played the Devilletes the last four years and are the lone non-conference opponent Ole Miss has played each year of the Insell era.
