Not only is Evan Engram the best college football player in Mississippi, he’s also a role model and tireless volunteer in his community.
For the second straight year, Engram has been recognized as a member of the Southeastern Conference Football Community Service Team for his exemplary efforts off the field.
The Ole Miss senior, who leads all tight ends nationally with 5.9 catches per game and 84.2 receiving yards per outing this season, has also shown a special passion for physically and mentally handicapped people during his time in Oxford. He has volunteered his time with the Special Olympics, including the 2014 and 2015 Unified Egg Bowl events, which pit Special Olympics athletes from Ole Miss and Mississippi State against each other for a flag football game to raise funds for those programs at both schools. He’s spent time with adults at the North Mississippi Regional Center and children at the C.M. Scott Center in Oxford.
Other volunteer pursuits for the Powder Springs, Georgia, native include participating in Reading with the Rebels and making several appearances at local schools, stressing to students the importance of good health and education. He has served as a camp counselor for an FCA football camp, has helped needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and has visited patience at children’s hospitals in Jackson, Mississippi, and New Orleans.
Engram is now a two-time SEC Community Service Team member and a two-time AFCA Good Works Team nominee. He is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award and Pop Warner College Football Award. He’s been invited to play in the Senior Bowl, and he’s a candidate for All-America and All-SEC postseason honors.
