Oxford Crime Report: November 11-13, 2016
Oxford police responded to the following calls: One reported DUI, two 9-1-1 hangup calls, 12 alarms, eight welfare concerns, three ambulance assists, one simple assault, three petit larceny, two improper parking, four suspicious activity, six suspicious persons, two suspicious vehicle, report of lost property, 20 disturbing the peace, two malicious mischief, three reports of recovered property, two motorist assist, code enforcement violation, one animal complaint.
Oxford police investigated 16 vehicle collisions, issued 105 traffic citations and made 18 arrests on the following charges:

Careless Driving, No Driving License, No Liability Insurance and DUI
Speeding, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and DUI

Speeding, Driving While License Suspended, No Liability Insurance and DUI
Speeding, Ran Stop Sign and Possession of a Fake ID
Lafayette Sheriff’s department responded to the following incidents: Seven accidents, one aggravated assault, 16 alarms, four animal complaints, one commercial burglary, three residential burglaries (1-CR 149, 1-CR 102, 1-Hwy 30), 12 disturbances, one grand larceny, five harassment, two juvenile complaint, one malicious mischief, 12 service calls, nine suspicious activities, eight welfare concerns, one scam, one transport, two trespassing, six civil matters, three follow up, seven traffic complaints, one fire call, one unauthorized use of vehicle.
Lafayette Sheriff’s department made 11 arrests on the following charges:

(1) Aggravated assault
(1) Burglary, possession of controlled substance
(1) Disorderly conduct
University police responded to the following incidents:
Friday, November 11
Three vehicle stops, three assist with traffic, accident hit n run at Turner Center, harassment at Boundrant Hall, one report of stalking and simple assault domestic violence off campus.
Saturday, November 12
Ten vehicle stops.
Sunday, November 13
Two vehicle stops, two motor vehicle accidents (Chucky Mullins and Sorority Row), Hit and Run at Jackson Avenue Center, two suspicious vehicles.
Oxford Fire department responded to the following incidents:
Friday, November 11
Smoke alarm activation while cooking at 407 Turnberry at 11:30 a.m.
Smoke detector activation at 304 Burns Hall at 3:57 p.m. due to a resident leaving iron on
Smoke detector malfunction on the 8th floor of Stewart Hall at 7:38 p.m.
Saturday, November 12
A heating unit overheated causing smoke in the attic and 2nd floor at 220 Elm St. #16 at 10:02 a.m.
Smoke detector activation while cooking at Captain D’s at 11:55 a.m.
Smoke detector activation while cooking at Abner’s on West Jackson at 5:31 p.m.
The smell of smoke after turning on the heater for the first time at 1100 Augusta Drive at 10:01 a.m.
Sunday, November 13
Someone ran over the gas meter resident had cut gas off and stood by for Center Point Energy at 2317 Robinson Road at 5:30 a.m.
Smoke detector activation while cooking at Northgate A208 at 6:44 a.m.
