John Cofield’s Oxford and Ole Miss: That Special Hometown Feeling

Published

on

Hometown feeling comes from knowing the right place for classic Oxford photos.

A prize scene of the Eastern side of the Square, showing the old Federal Court and the P.O. next to Neilson’s store, and the left side of the Courthouse and the monument facing South.

I believe that every citizen of Oxford, who appreciates that special hometown feeling that only we know, should climb the steps at 160 Courthouse Square and have their photograph taken on Square Books balcony. It’s the best view in the house.

John Cofield is a HottyToddy.com writer and one of Oxford’s leading folk historians. He is the son of renowned university photographer, Jack Cofield. His grandfather, J.R. “Colonel” Cofield, was William Faulkner’s personal photographer and for decades was the Ole Miss yearbook photographer. Cofield attended Ole Miss as well.

Stay tuned for more information on Cofield’s forthcoming book: Oxford, Mississippi ~ The Cofield Collection — a pictorial history book with John’s writing on the history to go along with the photos.
