Ole Miss Travels To ASU Tonight
The Rebels and the Red Wolves met for 101st time in the series.
The Ole Miss baseball team takes on the Arkansas State Red Wolves in Jonesboro tonight.
Ole Miss (29-12) rolls into tonight’s contest with the Red Wolves after a three-game sweep over the Tennessee Volunteers. This past Friday, Rebels pitcher Bobby Wahl threw a 5-0 shutout victory.
Junior Stuart Turner delivered his fourth home run of the year in Friday’s win. The bat of Will Jamison came to life on Saturday with a huge go ahead, game-winning home run.
Arkansas State (22-18) welcomes the Rebels into town after taking two-of-three games form Louisiana-Monroe over the weekend. The Red Wolves look to the offense of Ryan Emery, who has a .321 bating average. Emery has driven in 25 RBI’s and scored 26 total runs so far on the season.
The probable pitching matchup for tonight’s contest showcases the arms of right-hander David Owen versus Josh Laxer. The Red Wolves’ Owen will be making his fifth appearance on the season with this being his first start when he toes the rubber tonight. Laxer comes in with a 2-0 record and will be making his seventh start on the season.
When the Rebels and Red Wolves take the diamond tonight, they will be meting for the 101st time in the series. Ole Miss has a tight hold on the series, with a 77-23 record lead that dates back to the 1951 season. Ole Miss last defeated the Red Wolves on March 27 by a score of 10-4 in Oxford.
