It’s Election Day For Rebel Nation Too: Vote For A QB
Today is a very important day for the state of Mississippi and Rebel nation. With an important decision to make, we are left with the choice between two very different candidates.
One is a true freshman with a whole hype train behind him, and the other a more experienced yet less known sophomore. The debate between Shea Patterson and Jason Pellerin has been nonstop since the incumbent QB Chad Kelly went down with a torn ACL in Saturday’s victory over Georgia Southern.
Pulling the Redshirt off of Shea Patterson may seem tempting to some, while others may see it as an unnecessary move with only three games remaining in a season with no road to Atlanta. As one of the top QBs in the 2016 class, the 6-2, 200-pound Patterson may be ready for the challenge of leading the Rebels to a bowl game. Hugh Freeze’s hesitation may be warranted, not wanting to alter the timeline he has created for Patterson to develop going into next season.
Jason Pellerin has seen the field this season to the tune of mixed results. A change of pace in the running game, but not a prolific arm like Kelly, Pellerin has his strengths and weaknesses. With only a package of plays designed for him, we haven’t seen his ability to manage an entire 60-minute contest which will give many fans pause if he lines up under center in College Station this Saturday. Five total TDs against three INTs on the season, is that stat line enough to win over fans and coaches alike?
Each candidate has a case for and against them to start the final three weeks and #MakeTheOffenseGreatAgain but which one will it be, Shea Patterson or Jason Pellerin? Do your civic duty as a part of Rebel Nation and vote!
