Curtis Released From Federal Custody

The Corinth, Mississippi, man accused in a federal complaint of sending ricin-laced letters to President Barack Obama, Sen. Roger Wicker and a Mississippi justice official has been released from jail.
Jeff Woodfin, chief deputy with the U.S. Marshalls Service in Oxford, confirmed early Tuesday afternoon that Curtis had been released on bond. Woodfin told reporters that he did not know if there were conditions attached to the release, and there was no word on when the case against Curtis would proceed.
Federal officials did confirm, however, that charges will be brought against him.
Curtis’ release followed a Tuesday morning delay in his detention hearing that had originally been scheduled to resume at 3 p.m. on Monday.
After the delay was announced, Christi McCoy, defense counsel for Curtis, scheduled a 5 p.m. press conference outside the federal courthouse in Oxford.
