UM Green Fund to Offer H2OTTY Toddy Water Bottles

The University of Mississippi Green Fund Project will offer H2OTTY TODDY water bottles for sale as part of the weeklong Sustainability Fair on the Ole Miss campus.

The project is the brain child of a Generation Green class taught by Milly West, a professor in the Center for Writing and Rhetoric. The goal is to provide high quality reusable water bottles to students and educate everyone on campus about how they can decrease plastic water bottle waste.

The water bottles will be sold during Green Week at the Sustainability Fair on Wednesday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Student Union. The Sustainability Fair is an annual event to promote the Green Fund through donations and teach students how to conserve our resources.

The bottles, which cost ten dollars each, come in three colors and have a specially designed H2OTTY TODDY logo printed on them. The bottles also will have an attached tag to inform students about how they can reduce waste by using and reusing them. This project was presented to and approved by the UM Green Fund Committee, made up of faculty and students, on April, 4th, 2013.

The University of Mississippi Green Fund is a pool of money that is used for the implementation of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability projects, programs and policies. To support the UMGF, the University will provides a baseline contribution to the green fund of $15,000 per year along with a 50 percent bonus match for every dollar invested by students. The UMGF is managed by the University of Mississippi Green Fund Committee.
