Buyers Beware: Don’t Get Soaked Buying a Flood-Damaged Car

In the wake of the recent flooding in Lousiana, many vehicles were damaged by high rain waters. Estimates find some 100,000 automobiles damaged by the historic floods.
Some of those damaged cars could make their way into Mississippi marketplace for resale.
The Better Business Bureau reminds consumers in the market for a preowned vehicle to watch out for cars that may have been submerged in recent floods across Louisiana.
While there’s no foolproof way to detect vehicle flood damage, fortunately, there are steps that car shoppers can take to detect water damage and protect themselves.
Experts say potential buyers should inspect the interior, trunk and engine compartment for rust, musty odors and other signs of significant water damage.
