Walker was an 8th grader at Lafayette Middle School. He loved the outdoors and spent every moment he possibly could outside. He spent as much time as he could on a tractor, cutting, raking and baling hay. His best friend in the world, James “Booger” Durham, taught him to drive a tractor, fix anything that was broken, wrangle cows and more. Walker loved the time he spent with Booger farming. Walker also loved horseback riding. He had two horses he dearly loved and looked after every day. His dog, Piper, and Walker were inseparable. From the time he left for school, until he returned home, she sat and stared at the door waiting for his return. She joined him in Heaven and her remains are being laid to rest alongside Walker.
Walker is survived by his parents, Brandall Laughlin and Doug Atkinson, his brothers, Laughlin, Harrison and Avery, both sets of grandparents, Linda and King Laughlin of Dallas, Texas and Pat and Richard Atkinson of Oxford, Mississippi.

I am so devastated by this tragedy. I identify with the way he was brought as that is how I grew up as well. My prayers to your family.

A young life cut so short. It is at a time like this that truly test our faith.
Know there was a purpose for God to bring his son home.
Though I struggle with that, I must maintain my faith that there was a purpose .
My sincerest condolences to brandall, doug, his brothers and grandparents, among the many friends this young man had.
I remain at Peace that Walker and piper are together out there in the scheme of things.
My heart is heavy with sadness
