Oxford Crime Report: OPD Cracks Down On Bad Neighbors

Oxford police responded to the following calls: Animal complaint, Fire Department assist, civil matter, three suspicious activities, motorist assist, two illegally parked cars, petit larceny, forgery, two counterfeit currency, shoplifting, disturbance, two alarms, ambulance assist, complaint of lost property, fifteen code violations (These reports are generated as complaints from neighbors in the South 14th, 16th and 18th Street. Residents are leaving cars parked all in the yards and leaving garbage cans out at the road. We are trying to educate the residents on behavioral expectations and their roles as good neighbors.)

Oxford police investigated 11 wrecks, issued 31 traffic citations, and made four arrests on the following charges:

Public intoxication and fake ID

Lafayette Sheriff’s department responded to the following incidents:  accident, three alarms, auto burglary, two disturbances, two petit larceny, harassment, suspicious activity, four welfare concerns, transport, trespassing, two civil matters, follow up, five information, road obstruction, fraud

Lafayette Sheriff’s department made one arrest on the following charges:
Public drunk

University police responded to the following incidents:  Three vehicles accidents at Sigma Pi Fraternity, Kappa Delta Sorority and South Lot, two vehicle stops, suspicious vehicle, disturbance

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Smoke detector malfunction at 9:05 a.m. at Neon Pig
Heat duct detector malfunction at 1:12 p.m. on the 2nd floor of Guyton Hall
Fire alarm pulled by a child at 1:24 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church
Water flow alarm activation at 5:06 due to employee turning off the wrong water valve at Bonehead’s Grill
Smell of gas at 10:36 p.m. at CB Webb Apartments (Fire Department did not smell gas in the apartment)
