Osaka, Mississippi Bank Robber Arrested
The man suspected of robbing a bank on Aug. 4, 2016 in Osyka, Miss. and his accomplices have been arrested.
“I hope the arrest of these individuals sends a clear message: if you rob a bank in Mississippi, law enforcement will not stop until you are in custody,” said Donald Alway, special agent in charge of the FBI in Mississippi. “The partnership between local, state and federal law enforcement could not be stronger in Mississippi. The FBI appreciates all of the officers that assisted with the investigation and arrest of these individuals.”
The suspected bank robber, James H. Sparrow, 41, of Tornado, West Virginia was arrested Wednesday without incident at a hotel in St. Albans, WV by the St. Albans Police Department, Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office and federal agents.
“Interdepartmental cooperation between local, state and federal law enforcement agencies was critical and resulted in the apprehension of these individuals,” said MBI Director Lt. Colonel Jimmy Jordan. “There is no limit as to the lengths we will go to in order to maintain law and order in our state.”
Accomplice Gerard J. Nicholas, 41, of Gonzalez, La. turned himself into authorities late Tuesday evening. The second accomplice, a juvenile, was also arrested in St. Albans, W.Va. and could be charged as an adult.
State charges against Sparrow, Nicholas and the juvenile are pending.
The Osyka Police Department, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and FBI will continue their investigation into this case.
