Oxford Crime Report: Tuesday, August 16 – Credit Card Fraud, Grand Larceny
Brandon Robertson – Credit Card Fraud
On March 28, Oxford police officers took a report of a credit card fraud. The victim stated that her credit cards were used at several locations in Oxford. On March 31, the suspects were identified as Brandon Roberson (26 of Mountain Olive, Alabama) and Bryanna Hyde. On April 4, warrants were issued for their arrest. On April 5, Roberson and Hyde were found and arrested in Lee County. The police then found that Roberson and Hyde had committed similar crimes in several other jurisdictions around the state. Oxford police then placed a hold on Roberson and Hyde, and as of August 11, Oxford police learned that Roberson was ready to be transported to Oxford. Hyde was still being held for Lee County. Roberson was finally transported to Lafayette County Detention and his bond for $1,500 was set.
Bobby Barnes – Grand Larceny
On Monday, August 15, Oxford police investigators arrested Bobby Barnes (41 of Grenada) for a trailer being stolen from Oxford on August 1, 2016. At this time the trailer has not been recovered and Barnes’ bond was set at $10,000.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: nine alarms, six suspicious activities, four disturbances, two simple assaults, two animal complaints, two 911 hang-up calls, an ambulance assist, an illegally parked car, a reported DUI, a welfare concern, a scam, a shoplifting, a civil matter and a lost property.
Oxford police investigated eight wrecks, issued 11 traffic citations and made one arrest for public intoxication.
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: three disturbances, two accidents, two welfare concerns, two transportations, two suspicous activities, two civil matters, a simple assault, an animal complaint, a petit larceny, a harassment, a juvenile complaint, a service call and a fraud.
University police responded to the following incidents: four vehicle stops, a moving violation per failure to signal and possession of drug paraphernalia on Hathorn Road, accidental hit and run at Luckyday Residential College, a disturbance at J.D. Williams Library, and a vehicle accident at Women’s Softball Field.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Smoke and heat detector activation at 10:56 a.m. due to cleaning at 1004 Woodland Lane
Work on the alarm system at 10:57 a.m. at Malco Theatre on Commonwealth Drive
Smoke detector activation at 2:29 p.m. due to workers at Kappa Delta house
Smoke detector activation at 2:45 p.m. due to workers at 637 North Lamar Boulevard
