Motorcycle Club Hosts Event to Promote Safety
OXFORD, Miss – Since the mid 1960s there have been over 150,000 motorcycle deaths recorded in the United States.
The North East Mississippi Chapter of the Expendables Motorcycle Club will host a local fundraiser called “Share the Road” in Oxford on August 27, 2016 to raise awareness of safety between motorists and motorcyclists.
Expendables Motorcycle Club is a non-profit organization comprised of military, firefighters, EMTs, and police officers.
“We hope to raise this awareness to reduce motorcycle fatalities caused between careless error and visibility,” said Johnathon Smith with the Share the Road.
Share the Road is open to the public, beginning with a motorcycle ride from Oxford to Southaven. Following the motorcycle ride, there will be a concert at Mr. Feathers, featuring popular local artists to promote motorcycle safety awareness.
The event is also partnering with the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and the Sigma Chi Fraternity chapters from the University of Mississippi to host Share the Road. Share the Road has also partnered with Amtrykes in Action, an annual event that builds recumbent bicycles for disabled military veterans. Amtrykes in Action will receive the proceeds from the fundraiser.
Smith contends the club is currently seeking sponsors to host Share the Road.
“We hope that you will consider sponsoring our event to help make Share the Road possible and to raise awareness of motorcycles on the road,” said Smith.
Checks payable to “Northeast Mississippi Expendables MC”. Other contributions are also greatly appreciated.
