Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, August 5 – 7 – Credit Card Fraud, ID Theft

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 10 alarms, six suspicious activities, five disturbances, five welfare concerns, three civil matters, three 911 hang-up calls, two malicious mischiefs, two illegally parked cars, two reported public intoxications, two animal complaints, two petit larcenies, two complaints of lost property, a shoplifting, an ambulance assist, a reported DUI, an ID theft, a credit card fraud, a littering, a report of obstructing traffic, and an auto burglary at West Jackson Avenue.

Oxford police investigated 15 wrecks, issued 67 traffic citations and made 12 arrests on the following charges:

DUI
Warrant served
Careless driving and DUI
Speeding and no driver’s license
Expired tag and minor in possession
No seatbelt and no driver’s license
No seatbelt and possession of drug paraphernalia
Speeding, expired driver’s license, expired tag and DUI
Public intoxication and possession of Schedule IV narcotics
Careless driving, no insurance, noise violation and obstructing traffic

Lafayette sheriff’s department responded to the following incidents: 12 service calls, nine disturbances, five suspicious activities, five accidents, five welfare concerns, four traffic complaints, three alarms, three harassments, two animal complaints, two civil matters, two follow-ups, a malicious mischief, an unauthorized use of vehicle, a credit card fraud, a structure fire assist, a juvenile complaint, and a residential burglary (Highway 334).

Lafayette sheriff’s department made five arrests on the following charges:
(2) Possession of paraphernalia
Warrant for child support
Disorderly conduct (along with two counts of warrants)
Failure to yield, reckless driving and no driver’s license

University police department responded to the following incidents:
Friday, August 5

Suspicious vehicle on Intramural Field Road
Vandalism at Stockard Hall
Service call for an ambulance at Stockard Hall
Petit larceny at J.D. Williams Library
Intoxicated person at Stockard Hall
Saturday, August 6

Trespassing at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium
Sunday, August 7
Vehicle stop on All American Drive

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Friday, August 5
Sprinkler system alarm at 8:28 a.m. activated by air compressor at East Side Rebel Club
Heat duct detector activation at 10:25 a.m. due to excessive heat at Crosby Hall
Smoke detector activation at 8:50 p.m. caused by burned chicken at Townhouse Suites by Marriott
Sprinkler system malfunction at 9:01 p.m. at Guyton Hall
Saturday, August 6
Smoke detector malfunction at 10:00 a.m. at North Residential College
Fire alarm at 5:19 p.m. caused by employees bumping the pull station at IHOP
Sunday, August 7
Smoke detector at 3:10 a.m. caused by steam rising from cleaning of the grills at IHOP
Sprinkler system alarm at 4:21 a.m. caused by air compressor tripping at East Side Rebel Club
