Today, we are going to look at which members of the freshmen class will see a significant time on the field in 2016.
Coach Hugh Freeze’s staff brought into Oxford this year another top ten recruiting class. With players thought to have productive minutes early in the season.
1. Shea Patterson
Let’s take a closer look at Shea Patterson, who will be the backup for Chad Kelly. Patterson played his senior season at IMG Academy. Patterson was rated coming out of high school as the best quaterback in his class. In his senior year, he threw for 1,553 yards with 18 touchdowns to only four interceptions.
2. Greg Little
Freshmen Greg Little will find a home at left tackle protecting the QB’s blind side. Little comes into the program ranked number one at his position according to 247 sports.com and number one in the state of Texas. His national composite score grades out to number three nationally.
3. A.J. Brown
A.J. Brown who was listed as a four-star receiver out of high school. He comes to Oxford from Starkville. In his senior season, Brown recorded 83 receptions for a total of 1,371 yards for 13 touchdowns. He avegarged 91.4 yards per game. With the addition of Brown and DK Metcalf the Ole Miss wide receiving tree just got a little deeper.
4.D.K. Metcalf
D.K. Metcalf, the son of Terrance Metcalf, who played his high school ball in the shawdows of Vaught-Hemingway at Oxford High school. He came in as a four-star recruit.
5. Eli Johnson
Eli Johnson from Taylor, Miss played at Lafayette high school. Johnson is an offensive lineman who is 6’1, 289 lbs. He was an early enroll to Ole Miss who ran at the number two center position .
The Rebels offense has returning a hand full of play makers from last season’s Sugar Bowl victory over Oklahoma State.
