Seven Ole Miss Students Compete in 2016 Mississippi Miss Hospitality Pageant
Seven Ole Miss students are competing among 27 contestants in 67th annual Mississippi’s Miss Hospitality pageant in Hattiesburg on July 22 to 23.
The following Ole Miss contestants are:
Isabella Moak – Oxford
Kailey Ready – Jasper County
Libby Li – Neshoba County
Mary Margaret Hyer – Hattiesburg
Claire McGraw – Meridian
Taylor Tucker – Jackson
Cayla Scott – Mendenhall
The contestants arrived in Hattiesburg on Sunday afternoon and are rehearsing at the historic Saenger Theater all week as well as touring the city.
The preliminary night of competition is Friday, July 22 at 8:00 p.m. and the final night of competition is Saturday, July 23 at 8:00 p.m. at the Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg.
Presented by VISITHATTIESBURG™, the Mississippi Development Authority, in conjunction with Forrest General Hospital, the City of Hattiesburg and the University of Southern Mississippi, the Mississippi Miss Hospitality Pageant offers over $100,000 in scholarships and prizes to its contestants.
At this pageant, several young ladies compete all week for the title that comes with a year-long duty of being a goodwill ambassador for the state to help promote tourism and economic development.
The panel of judges will grade the contestants based on how well they do the following: panel interview (25 percent of total grade), Mississippi Speech (20 percent), black dress attire (20 percent), evening gown (20 percent) and on-stage interview (15 percent).
