Oxford Crime Report for Monday, June 27 – Embezzlement, Fireworks
Shatoya Martin – Embezzlement
On Monday, June 27, the Oxford Police Department arrested Shatoya Martin (22 of Oxford) for embezzlement. On June 27, the police department received a call concerning Mobil Gas Station on University Avenue about an employee who was taking money from the store. Upon further investigation, documentations were given to the police officers showing that Martin was doing returns on several different items throughout the store from June 2 to June 20. After doing the returns, Martin would then keep the money. She took approximately $1,050. Martin was given a bond of $5,000.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: six alarms, four welfare concerns, two disturbances, two suspicious activities, a domestic violence, a call about fireworks, an identity theft, a forgery, a civil matter, a motorist assist, a counterfeit currency and an illegally parked car.
Oxford police investigated four wrecks, issued 50 traffic citations and made three arrests on the following charges:
Shoplifting
Public intoxication
Speeding, drug paraphernalia and warrant served
University police responded to the following incidents: two vehicle stops, a stalking at Super Computer Center, a larceny at Turner Center, and a report of a suspicious person and vehicle on Intramural Field Road.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Fire alarm at 1974 University Circle
Rescue at 680 Highway 6 from an entrapment due to vehicle rollover
Fire alarm at 400 Rebel Drive
Assistance call at 403 Thomas Street
Fire alarm at 147 Golf Club Drive
