Oxford’s Police Chief East Named President of MS Association of Chiefs of Police

Yesterday on June 23, Oxford’s Police Chief Joey East has been named the president of Mississippi Association of Chiefs of Police (MACP), an organization including over 86 chiefs of police in 82 counties within Mississippi.

MACP posted on its Facebook page saying: “We’re proud of both men who are dedicated to making our association the best,” in association with the above photo of Joey East being congratulated with the outgoing president, Don Gammage of Olive Branch police department.

Chief Joey East said, “It is a very humbling and a great honor to represent such an amazing group of men and women who are leading our law enforcement professionals across the state.”

He listed the goals he has in mind this year for MACP:

1.) To strengthen the relationship with the state leaders in Jackson, Mississippi.
2.) Update the current constitution and by-laws.
3.) To provide the police chiefs with online executive and leadership training.
4.) Review the current training of new officers to ensure the communities within Mississippi are being provided with the best trained officers possible.
