SEC Country: Former Ole Miss RB Deuce McAllister to Work for New Orleans Saints

One SEC football great will step in to try to fill the void left by another.
It was announced Wednesday that former Ole Miss running back Deuce McAllister will be the new color analyst for the New Orleans Saints radio broadcast. He will replace former LSU RB Hokie Gajan, who passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer.
“Hokie and the Saints are synonymous, to be given the opportunity to follow someone so entrenched in the history and tradition of Saints football, I’m grateful,” McAllister said, according to a release from WWL AM 870. “If you can’t play the game, what’s more exciting than calling a game? Everybody loves Saints football, and everybody listens to WWL…it’s a win-win situation!”
McAllister, who starred for the Saints from 2001-09, seemed like a natural fit after filling in for Gajan during the 2015 season as the late LSU running back fought his illness.
Gajan was the color voice for the Saints for 15 seasons.
McAllister was a first-round pick for the Saints in 2001 after a successful four-year stint with the Rebels from 1997-2000, during which he rushed for 3,181 yards and 38 touchdowns.
Editor’s Note: We want to share this video provided on YouTube by Camping World Independence Bowl of Duece McAllister’s 80-yard run against Oklahoma Sooners in 1999, the longest rushing touchdown in Independence Bowl history. Ole Miss won 27-25 against Sooners that year.
