New Non-Profit Oxford Community Market Carries on Oxford City Market
Oxford City Market recently announced that a new nonprofit in the city will continue the work that began as the Oxford City Market in 2013.
Now known as Oxford Community Market, the nearby farmers will begin selling at The Armory Pavilion located at the corner of Bramlett Road and University Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. this Saturday, June 11, and plans to continue Saturdays through November. The Tuesday sales will begin on October 4 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Oxford City Market (OXCM) began in response to the food insecurity issue in Oxford and its surrounding regions. Its goal is to increase access to fresh food for local and regional community members by connecting growers and producers with customers as well as promoting better health and social awareness. It also creates a public dialogue on how to create and maintain an ecofiendly and sustainable economy for the vendors, customers, the market and the community.
OXCM is supported by grants, promotional sales, gifts and vendor fees.
