Once news broke early Monday morning that Ole Miss did not receive one of the eight national seeds for the NCAA Baseball Tournament, the Rebels brushed it off and began to focus on Pac-12 champion Utah, Ole Miss’ first opponent in the Oxford Regional this weekend.

With a new season beginning this weekend, the Rebels (43-17) will have the opportunity to prove they were snubbed by the tournament committee, but Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco doesn’t want his team to feel down about not getting a national seed. Bianco likely hopes his team does what right-handed pitcher Brady Bramlett suggests and plays with a chip on their shoulders.

On Monday, the Rebel Walk was at the NCAA Tournament watch party with the team. Following the selections, each player that spoke out about that matter–from Errol Robinson to Will Golsan–gave their honest opinion about the national seeds, noting they believed the Rebels had done enough to earn a top-8 seed.

As for J.B. Woodman, his mindset seemed a little different. Instead of dwelling on the national seeding, Woodman was already zoned in on Ole Miss’ first game on Friday night against the Utes.

Woodman’s facial expression was stoic, as he neither frowned nor smiled. However, he indicated he is more excited about playing in front of the home crowd at Swayze Field than anything else.

Coming off the first Sweet 16 appearance in school history, Ole Miss Soccer will play host to 11 home matches in the fall, head coach Matthew Mott announced Tuesday in the release of the 2016 schedule.

The Rebels will face five NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, including SEC foes Texas A&M (Elite 8), Florida (Sweet 16), LSU, South Carolina, and non-conference opponent South Alabama. Ole Miss will host 11 matches at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium and hit the road for nine to make up the 20-game regular season slate.

After an exhibition at SMU on Aug. 12, fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch the Rebels at home as they play host to seven matches within a 24-day period.

Ole Miss will welcome Louisiana-Lafayette (Aug. 19), Northwestern State (Aug. 21) and Memphis (Aug. 26) to town, before facing off with Lipscomb (Aug. 28) for the first time in school history.

Friday trip to Big 10 opponent Michigan, the first meeting between the Wolverines and Rebels, is the highlight trip in the non-conference slate scheduled for Sept. 2 in Ann Arbor.

Following the trip north, Ole Miss will host Troy (Sept. 4), before Missouri treks to Oxford for the SEC opener on Sept. 9. A test with NCAA Tournament team South Alabama marks the final non-conference home match on Sept. 11, before the Rebels travel to LSU for the first conference road game Sept. 16.

After the final non-conference matchup at Tulsa on Sept. 18, Ole Miss will return home for two nationally-televised contests against Mississippi State (Sept. 22) and Arkansas (Sept. 25).

From there, the Rebels will play five of their final seven games on the road including at Kentucky (Oct. 1) and at Alabama (Oct. 6) to open the month of October. After hosting tough SEC foes Florida (Oct. 9) and Texas A&M (Oct. 14) in the home finale, Ole Miss’ regular season closes at Georgia (Oct. 20), at Vanderbilt (Oct. 23) and at South Carolina (Oct. 27).

The SEC Women’s Soccer Tournament is slated for Oct. 31 – Nov. 6 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala.

Ole Miss’ alumni game is set for the Sept. 9 contest against Mizzou, with Alumni Weekend festivities taking place surrounding the match. More details as they become available will be announced at OleMissMClub.org.
