Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Monday, May 27 – 30 – Residential Burglary
Oxford police responded to the following calls: 16 alarms, 12 suspicious activities, nine careless drivers, six welfare concerns, six disturbances, five noise violations, four ambulance assists, three shoplifting, three fire department assists, three auto-burglaries at Garfield, West Jackson Avenue and Malco parking lot, two animal complaints, two 911 hang up calls, a disturbance, a trespassing, an illegally parked car, a grand larceny, a public intoxication, a lost property, a recovered property, a malicious mischief, a simple assault, a civil matter and a residential burglary at Old Taylor Place.
Oxford police investigated 16 wrecks, issued 124 traffic citations and made 29 arrests on the following charges:

One headlight, suspended driver’s license and DUI
Ran red light and possession of drug paraphernalia
Noise violation and possession of drug paraphernalia
Public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia
Careless driving, no driver’s license, no tail lights and DUI
Suspended driver’s license, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
Suspended driver’s license, no insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia
Suspended driver’s license, no insurance and possession of drug paraphernalia
Public intoxication, minor in possession, fake ID and possession of drug paraphernalia

Public assist at 11:36 p.m. at 1501 Smallwood Drive
Sunday, May 29
Public assist at 8:46 a.m. due to a very small child locking itself in a bedroom and the resident requested the fire department to open the door at Lafayette Place.
Fire alarm at 12:36 p.m. at Veterans Home
Monday, May 30
Smoke in the building at 5:31 a.m. and 6:12 a.m. due to old grease in the fryers at Burger King
Smoke detector malfunctions at 6:30 p.m., 7:47 p.m. and 3:36 a.m. (May 31) at University Golf Course
Sprinkler system test at 7:06 p.m. at The Retreat
