Seersucker Shakedown Features New Book, Benefits Oxford Film Festival (OFF)
Oxford Film Festival and Nautilus Publishing are teaming up for a special book launch to benefit the nonprofit Oxford Film Festival. Seersucker Shakedown will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3 at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center (413 South 14th Street).
With live music, appetizers with a southern flair and Abita Seersucker beer and a special Seersucker gin cocktail courtesy of Proof Beverages, the event is sure to make you feel right at home wearing your best seersucker suit. A special presentation by Milk & Sugar: The Complete Book of Seersucker author Bill Haltom will also be held.
“We are so excited to kick off summer with such a fun party with our friends from Nautilus Publishing,” Oxford Film Festival Executive Director Melanie Addington said. “We are already gearing up for the 2017 festival and have been hosting monthly screenings and workshops and appreciate the wonderful support Oxford provides.”
Tickets not only include admission to the event, but it also includes the book that Haltom will sign on site. Those wearing their best seersucker are entered to win two VIP passes to the 2017 Oxford Film Festival set for February 15-19, 2017.
Advance tickets can be purchased online at http://seersuckershakedown.bpt.me/. Tickets are $35 for OxFilm society and Yoknapatawpha Arts Council members or $40 for non-members. An extra ticket can be purchased with the first ticket without the book for $20 for members or $25 for non-members. If purchased at the door, tickets are $45 for members or $50 for non-members with the option to buy a second ticket without the book for $30 for members or $35 for non-members.
ABOUT OXFORD FILM FESTIVAL
The Oxford Film Festival was founded in 2003 to bring exciting, new and unusual films (and the people who create them) to North Mississippi. The annual five-day festival screens short and feature-length films in both showcase and competition settings, including narrative and documentary features and shorts; Mississippi narratives, documentaries and music videos, and narrative, documentary, animated and experimental shorts. The festival is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization.
