Oxford Crime Report: Wednesday, May 25 – False Pretense, Auto Burglary
Jamie Barnes – False Pretense
On Wednesday, May 25, the Oxford Police Department arrested Jamie Barnes(24 of Grenada) for false pretenses. On May 10, 2016, employees of Walmart reported someone using fake money to purchase two Visa prepaid cards for a total of $900. The police officers reviewed the video and found Barnes to be the suspect. Barnes has been arrested and was given a bond of $1,500.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 11 suspicious activities, five disturbances, three careless drivers, two harassing phone calls, a civil matter, an alarm, a 911 hang up call, an ambulance assist and an auto burglary at Nottinghill Drive.
Oxford police investigated three wrecks, issued 27 traffic citations and made five arrests on the following charges:

Careless driving and DUI
Speeding, fake ID and no insurance
Careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, minor in possession and DUI
University police responded to the following incidents: a vehicle stop on University Avenue and a vehicle accident on Old Taylor Road.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Fire alarm at 11:22 a.m. at 207 Hathorn Road
Fire alarm at 10:45 p.m. at Helfey Hall
Fire alarm at 2:02 a.m. (May 26) at the Driving Range Road at the University Golf Course
