No. 6 Ole Miss Heads to Jonesboro to take on Arkansas State
The sixth-ranked Ole Miss Rebels are closing out the non-conference slate this evening against Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Ole Miss (39-13) comes into the game after sweeping Kentucky over the weekend. Henri Lartigue hit a walk-off three-run blast to secure the sweep.
Lartigue leads all SEC catchers with a .351 batting average, including a .390 clip in SEC play. As his teammate, Errol Robinson is hitting .361 over the last 25 games, recording at least one hit in 23 of those contests.
Let’s take a closer look at ASU.
Arkansas State enters the midweek matchup with a 24-26 record after going 3-1 last week. The Red Wolves beat Memphis, 4-3, to start the week before taking two-of-three from Texas State. When the Rebels come to town, A-State will be wrapping up an eight-game homestand. Joe Schrimpf leads Arkansas State at the plate as the only one on the team hitting over the .300 threshold.
Along with his .309 batting average, Schrimpf leads the team in RBI (40) and runs (34). Tanner Ring follows closely behind with a .297 average, providing power to the lineup with 13 doubles and seven home runs. On the mound, freshman Zach Haake will make his first career start. Haake has pitched 6.2 innings over eight appearances this season. The Red Wolves are by Tommy Raffo, who is in his eighth season at ASU.
The Red Wolves are sending Zach Haake to the hill to face the Rebels and Coach Mike Bianco will give the nod to Sean Johnson. Haake comes in with a 6.75 ERA while Johnson will hit the mound with a 4.26 ERA.
First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. and can be heard on the Ole Miss Radio Network.
