On May 14, Oxford police investigators arrested Jessica Smallie (20 of Panola County) and Staci Chapman (23 of Panola County) for one count of burglary each. These arrests stem from a trespassing complaint the Oxford police officers investigated on April 21 at 900 Whirlpool Drive. Through the investigation, the officers determined that Smallie and Chapman forcefully entered a roommate’s locked room without permission and stole property from inside. They were both booked for burglary and their bonds was set at $2,500.

On May 12, the Oxford police department took a report of a theft at Wal-Mart. The reporting party said that an unknown female, later identified as Catrina Washington (52 of Oxford) took a bundle of twenty dollar bills from the service counter when the clerk turned her back. That bundle equaled $2,000. The police officers identified Washington after capturing her picture on surveillance as well as her car. On May 13, the officers arrested her for grand larceny. She had her Initial Appearance before Judge Mickey Avent who set her bond at $5,000.

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: four suspicious activities, three alarms, two animal complaints, two reported careless drivers, two malicious mischief, a harassment, a 911 hang up call, an auto burglary at Fred’s parking lot, a scam, an illegally parked car and a lost property.

Oxford police investigated six wrecks, issued 32 traffic citations and made three arrests on the following charges:
Warrant served
Domestic violence – simple assault
Careless driving, failure to yield and DUI

University police responded to the following incidents: three vehicle stops, a suspicious vehicle in Kincannon Field Lot, and a larceny at Lester Hall.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following call: a public assist at 10:04 p.m. due to a resident needing assistance in turning off her oven at 203 Williams Street.
