Downtown Parking Advisory Commission Votes for Location of Parking Garage
Last Friday, the Downtown Parking Advisory Commission voted that the city of Oxford needs a parking garage, and that it should be installed in the lot behind the Oxford-University Club.
The Oxford Eagle reports that Commissioner Mike Harris said, “In looking at the growth rates projected for the city, county and university, I don’t think we’re necessary building this for today, but for two years from now and it will take that long to get the process done.”
The commission will make its recommendation to the Oxford Board of Aldermen this Thursday, May 12.
The construction costs will be discussed further, pending on approval from the Oxford Board of Aldermen on the parking garage.
Correction: The article erroneously reported that the lot behind the City Hall was selected.
