Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, May 6 – 8
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 17 suspicious activities, 17 disturbances, 10 alarms, five 911 hang up calls, five careless drivers, four welfare concerns, three malicious mischief, three reports of lost property, three animal complaints, three petit larcenies, two grand larcenies, two illegally parked cars, two ambulance assists, a fire department assist, a trespassing, a motorist assist and a house burglary on Van Buren.
Oxford police investigated 11 wrecks, issued 66 traffic citations and made — arrests on the following charges:

Petit larceny
Public intoxication
No driver’s license and DUI
No headlights, no tag and DUI
Careless driving, expired tag and DUI

Careless driving, expired driver’s license and DUI
No driver’s license, no insurance and warrant served
Possession of Schedule IV narcotics, fake ID and DUI
Speeding, suspended driver’s license and switched tag
Possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule II narcotics, no insurance and DUI (Wreck)
University police responded to the following incidents:

Emergency medical services requested for an intoxicated person at Crosby Hall

Smoke detector activation at 10:06 a.m. caused by workers at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at South End zone
Saturday, May 7
Smoke detector activation at 1:52 p.m. on the second floor of Brevard Hall – a light smell of firecracker smoke was detected in the elevator lobby
Water flow alarm malfunction at 2:14 p.m. at Campus Creek
Wreck with entrapment at 7:17 p.m. at 41 Thacker Loop
Smoke detector activation at 8:21 p.m. caused by burned popcorn at Burns Hall
Sunday, May 8
Fire at 12:31 a.m. caused by a coffee pot shorting out but the resident had the fire out upon arrival at Crosby Hall
Cancelled call at 10:52 a.m. at Oxford Country Club
Cancelled call at 1:43 p.m. at Captain D’s
Smoke detector malfunction at 2:08 p.m. at Phi Mu house
Smoke detector activation at 11:28 p.m. due to burned popcorn at Crosby Hall
