Double Decker Kids One Mile Run Proves To Be A Success
The annual event that excites Oxford citizens both young and old with the promise of a good time is underway.
The Double Decker Arts Festival brings delicious food, beautiful art, and great music to the college town this weekend, and one of the highly anticipated events of the weekend was The Kids One Mile Fun Run.
The race kicked off April 23, at 9:00 a.m. The run is hosted by Start2Finish and Oxford Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce and presented by Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Both The Kids One Mile Fun Race and The 10K and 5K Run had the biggest turnouts either run has ever had.
Children of various ages had the opportunity to run, walk, or even crawl through the tradition-rich Oxford Square, without the added pressure of keeping up with seasoned 10K or 5K runners.
The run was sponsored by local Oxford businesses including Belles & Beaus, Nella, Grace Realty, and various others.
The festival ends tonight with musical performances by Lettuce and Michael Franti & Spearhead.
