Double Decker Arts Festival Attracts New Food Vendors

The annual Double Decker Arts Festival brings a crowd of over 60,000 people to the historic Oxford Square this year. The event that celebrates the art culture of Oxford has grown each year, calling for more and more vendors, especially food vendors.

As Oxford continues to expand and the university continues to grow, new restaurants open their doors frequently. Three of the restaurants will be featured for the first time on the Square during the 21st annual Double Decker Festival.

“We’re serving wings and tenders, and we’ll do slaw,” Whiteside said. “This is the second Double Decker since we’ve been down here, and I just noticed last year that a lot of restaurants on the Square offered their food. A lot Oxford restaurants are featured, so we thought we would jump up in there with everyone else.”

Although Gus’s will blow the crowd away with their “world famous fried chicken,” My Guys seeks to bring something different to the table.

My Guys, formerly known as Ember’s, is known for their biscuits made from scratch and mouth watering barbecue.

Owner Ross Polancich said he is excited to showcase My Guys’ top-selling items.

My Guys will be serving pulled pork sandwiches, chicken sandwiches and ham and sausage biscuits.

In the midst of all this delicious, festival food, Bonehead’s Grill wants to bring a healthy option to the Square.

Owner Chris Bramlett said he is honored that the new Oxford restaurant is participating in Double Decker this year.

“We are a little different in that we have a healthy menu and our price point, too,” Bramlett said. “ I mean, you can’t go anywhere else and get a salmon or Mahi entrée for what we serve it. So, I would say healthy, affordable and good.”

The options are endless. If you’re on the Square today, be sure to check out Gus’s for the tastiest fried chicken around, My Guys for barbecue that will have you asking for seconds or Bonehead’s for the mouth watering Mahi entrée.

See you there!
