Oxford Civic Chorus To Hold Spring Concert on April 24
The Oxford Civic Chorus is celebrating award winning American composers with a spring concert, The Great American Songbook.
Conducted by Thomas Ardrey and accompanied by Steve Taranto, the chorus will be performing music from great American composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Irving Berlin, Aaron Copland, George & Ira Gershwin and more.
Director, Thomas Ardrey said, “Directing the Oxford Civic Chorus has been an incredible experience for the past year. At our spring concert, the audience can look forward to hearing familiar tunes that represent the golden age of American choral music. Please join us for an exciting afternoon!”
The Oxford Civic Chorus is a nonprofit organization that strives to provide quality artistic experiences to north Mississippi communities through choral music, offering two concerts a year. Members donate time and talent and are from every walk of life, ages 18 to 80.
OCC Board member, Debra Anderson said, “I am so proud to be a part of this organization! We have a great time with the music so our audience does too.”
OCC Board president, Kristen Rogers extends this invitation, “We invite you to come and support the Oxford civic chorus as we celebrate the great American songbook. Our hope is that that those who attend will enjoy the music as much as we do!”
The concert will be presented Sunday, April 24 at 3:00 p.m. at North Oxford Baptist Church. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at the door or may be purchased from choir members.
Open auditions for new singers occur at the beginning of each semester, in August and again in January. For more information about The Oxford Civic Chorus, or to become a donation sponsor, visit oxfordcivicchorus.org and follow them Facebook.
