Mississippi representative for 12th District and Oxford resident, Jay Hughes has issued a news release announcing a press conference tomorrow, April 12, concerning the HB 1523 (“Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act”).

Members of the Mississippi House of Representatives will hold a press conference at 9:45 am, Tuesday, April 12, on the Mississippi Capitol steps.

The purpose of the conference is to announce the immediate introduction of a concurrent suspension resolution intended to suspend the rules and regular deadlines in the House of Representatives. Members who opposed the bill will seek the approval of the introduction and passage of the “THE MISSISSIPPI ECONOMIC & TOURISM RECOVERY ACT (an opportunity to repeal HB1523).”

This resolution is in direct response to the local and national negative consequences on Mississippi, its economic development, tourism industry, and perception of the good people of Mississippi. This suspension resolution is the required first step in a process to allow the repeal HB1523, and all of its discriminatory consequences.

Thank you, Jay Hughes! We need more leaders like you in the legislature looking out for the state we call home. There’s no room for hate in the hospitality state.

Amen Barry, about Laney. Repeal the Bill? How about repealing Jay Hughes! There are 49 others states you’d be welcome in, maybe. Better them to have you than us.

Thank God for the voice of reason. HB 1523 is negatively affecting tourism in Mississippi – one of our largest sources of revenue. Bigotry and hatred should not be the flags that we waive in this state!

To a true Christian, marriage is one man and one woman swearing fidelity oaths to one another – in the presence of God and witnesses – while invoking the Spirit of God to bless the union and the vows. It is a holy convocation, a sacred rite, a sacrament and an act of worship. For a Christian to participate in any other kind of “marriage” ceremony is an unholy act, abominable and detestable to God. It is spiritually the same as attending a satan-worshipping ceremony, or sacrificing an animal to Molech. This is why true Christians won’t touch a homosexual marriage, and is why the state should not attempt to force Christians to participate. And yes, it is discriminatory against homosexuals, just like it is discriminatory against Satan-worshippers for Christians to refuse to participate, or knowingly sell an animals to those who are going to sacrifice to a false deity.
